Technical efficiency of cassava farmers in Ekiti State, Nigeria

This study measured the technical efficiency of cassava farmers in Ekiti State, Nigeria. A multi-stage sampling technique was employed to select 120 respondents for study. Primary data were collected from randomly selected through a well-structured and self-administered questionnaire. The results indicated that more than half (52.5%) older 50 years age had household sizes within range 6-10 persons. About 51.6 percent primary school education. No difference existed between those with tertiary education without formal regarding cultivated farm size (4.00 ha). Combined labour (family hired labour) prevalent among farmers, as submitted by 65.8 farmers. Results Stochastic Frontier Production Function (SFPF) model herbicide pesticide, depreciation value tools, cost fertiliser used, significantly differed zero important production. Also, year education, farming experience marital status major socioeconomic characteristics affecting inefficiency Essentially, ranges 0.334 0.972, mean 0.790. shows that, on average, could obtain about 80% potential output given set inputs.
